NEWS!

Hello All!

We've had a good day here in Ukraine! It's Friday and everything has gone according to our plan.
We moved today. We are in an apartment that is quite a bit nicer. It has a new fridge, washing machine, and microwave. The apartment is cleaner and well taken care of. We are up on the 7th floor which makes me feel more safe. It is unlikely that someone can enter through a window now. (Unless it's Spider-man Kaiden added!) Being on the 7th floor also has it's disadvatages when the elevator isn't working. Seven flights of stairs might be okay for Kaiden and I but when Darryl has to haul the heavy suitcase up it isn't ok. Thankfully another man hauled the second suitcase. When we leave here going down won't be as bad. There is a nice big grocery store that is very close by it also has toys and clothes. It was nice to browse around for awhile today. We believe that there is a mall about two blocks away that we plan on checking out tomorrow. We have heard that it may even have an indoor playground for Kaiden!
Now that we have moved we visit Kallie from 4 - 6 pm. She seemed to realize that we were there at a different time. It was quiter at the orphanage, most of the staff must be done by then. After a good visit we came back to the apartment and had supper. Having a change in our routine will be good we think.
Svetlana has left to Kiev for the weekend. Kaiden's comment was ``But why is she going, I like when she is here!`` I think we are a bit more at ease when we have someone around that knows the language and can answer all of our questions.
Now that we have moved we have a phone in this apartment. Our family has been experiencing great difficulties trying to call us on our cell phone. Now that we have this land line we will e-mail that number home and hopefully it will be easier to get a hold of us.
In the conclusion of this episode we will mention the news that everyone has been waiting for. We have a court date! If everything goes as planned we will be going to court on Wednesday January 21st! (That`s only 5 days away!) If there is a problem with Kiev getting our paperwork done we will go to court on Thursday the 22nd. Either date means that we will get Kallie out of the orphanage to live with us full time on Monday February 2nd! YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!
Thank you for the prayers!
The plan after the Feb. 2nd is yet to be determined!
Have a great weekend!

Love,
Darryl, Jeremy, & Kaiden

Great to hear you have your court date booked. That sets the ball rolling for everything else to come in place for this little angel to finally be part of your family. Glad that you are settled into a nicer apartment with better amenities. It makes a difference to live in a nice place----we were in a couple of iffy places before settling into an apt close to the orphanage. Makes you feel so much closer to your child. Have a good weekend scouting out the neighbourhood.
Take care,
Donna & Murray

WOW!!!We are very thrilled that your court date is so soon, (never soon enough I know). Shortly we can all begin the countdown to your arrival back in Saskatoon. We will try to call you tomorrow morning. Can't wait to talk to you, and hear the excitement in your voice. It is very nice weather here today, finally! it is currently only -1, -8 with the wind but it's beautiful compared to what we have had.

Yay! We are so excited for you! Considering your earlier delays and the fact that you couldn't make paperwork progress over the Ukrainian holidays, things are moving along now. I know it still feels like WAY too long, but it will all be worth it when you get home! :) We are glad to hear about your new place; that there are amenities closer and you can go visit Kallie on your own. Have a great time over the next few days.

I"m so happy you have a court date, you'll be home before you know it!!!! Kallie gets sweeter with every picture. It's like she poses and gives her best smile every time. It was hot today- minus 3! I took our dog for two walks and it was beautiful. I went shopping with Erica- I guarantee you'll love that alot. It was especially great because she spent her own money, I just bought lunch. There's lots of sales, but I am saving my money for another trip!!!!!! The kids at school seem to be taking turns getting sick. My class seems to have grown up alot and they are not so demanding. We finally went sledding at the hill, but the wind was gusting to about 40km so we only stayed for bout 30 minutes. The snow was so deep, just getting to the hill was an effort. I hope you are all feeling rested and not too stressed from the events of the past month. Take care! Linda C.
